How to maintain artist brushes?
If the artist brush is kept properly, it can extend its lifespan. The artist brush should be cleaned in time after use to prevent the paint from drying on the brush bristles. When it is not used for a long time, it should be cleaned thoroughly and sealed with paper.
If you do not use it for a short time, wipe off the residual paint on the artist brush with cloth or paper, then wash it with turpentine and soak it in water.
To clean the used artist brush with turpentine, you can prepare two jars of turpentine. One is used for preliminary cleaning to remove the remaining paint on the artist brush; the other is used for the second cleaning.
The artist brush should be soaked for ten minutes with warm water and detergent (household detergent is very effective for oil cleaning) after using it every day. But don’t soak the brush rod, it will soak the paint. If the color of the brush root is not washed, it will accumulate after a long time, and the length of the brush bristles will be shortened invisibly.
It is necessary to insist on washing after use every day. Wash the colors on the brush thoroughly, squeeze out the water, and wrap it in a brush shape with newspaper for use. It can keep your artist brush as good as a new one every time you paint.
